WELCOMING IN THE NEW YEAR
MARCH 1, 2006 LOTS OF PHOTO OPS! Jon was a guest at Logo's multi-media entertainment event at the Egg on February 21st, followed by a reception at Noche Lounge. Logo is MTV's lesbian and gay network, soon to be available on Time Warner Cable, but they could use your support! Requests for Logo can be made by calling 866-321-2225. Check out LOGOonline for a sneak peek. Kate Ambrosio and Jon were reunited following their 2004 "Mouse" production when Kate's new musical, "Put Away", kicked off the long workshop process toward a fully mounted production. Jon performed the role of James in the premiere read-thru on February 26th at ZuZu's cafe. Others in the cast were Parker Cross, Hal Hughes, Joanna Peterson, Janet Womachka, Dav Freedman and Mark Tinney. "Put Away" is a dark, Brothers Grimm-like fairy-tale with songs, set in an asylum and based on real people and their experiences. Keep your eyes open for this one! WHERE'S NATE? In addition to his Monday nights at Savannah's, you can catch Nate Buccieri and all his students at his annual recital, Sunday March 12 at 4PM, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Albany-Shaker Road. Jon will be doing a number made famous by Ray Charles. No, it won't be "Hit the Road, Jack"! DID YOU KNOW? Jon has written 93 reviews with 1042 helpful votes that are published on Amazon.com. Click here to see his picks (and non-picks) of movies, music and books.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2005 Jon returned to perform at Danny's Skylight Room in The Big Apple on September 22nd & 24th. Highlights were two new additions to his song set: "I'll Catch the Sun" and "The Nearness of You". Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Jon is currently directing "Jadwiga" for its plays-in-progress premiere. It's a dramatic potboiler, much in the style of William Shakespeare, with a dash of Hitchcock!. Performances are Thursday, October 27th & Friday, October 28th at the First Congregational Church Hall on the corner of Quail Street and Maple Avenue. Tickets are available at the door.
AUGUST 25, 2005 TIMES UNION "President callous about the Iraq war" How inadequate and insensitive President Bush has finally proven himself to be, whizzing by Cindy Sheehan as she held vigil outside his vacation ranch, with his tinted SUV windows rolled up tight. The man is completely insulated against the effects of the war in Iraq. Sheehan, the mother of yet another needlessly slain soldier, has single-handedly issued a wake-up call to America. She and the ever-growing number of protesters joining her have the guts to stand up and hold the Bush administration accountable for its insane decision-making. It's just a shame there weren't more of us demanding justification before the United States invaded Iraq. Bush's only reply has been his simple, parrotlike mantra that it would be a mistake to pull out of Iraq now. That's looking at the problem from the back end. The real mistake was invading in the first place. A Buddhist philosopher once wrote that we can never knowingly commit a wrong action and expect that it will somehow yield the right result. Things just don't work that way, no matter how much we may choose to delude ourselves. Logically, ending the occupation of Iraq will not accomplish anything. But it must be obvious to everyone by now that neither will staying. It's a no-win situation, and there is not, nor will there ever be, a happy ending. The only humane thing to do at this point is to save lives. JON SOUTH Albany
JULY 11, 2005 Watch for Jon as a psychiatrist being interviewed by the police about a former patient in the upcoming "indie" film, "Unwrapped".
JUNE 10, 2005 JUGGLING ROLES: Jon is playing Gilligan (yes, that Gilligan) in "Marooned", a series of team-building business seminars. Off-hours, he's also "playing detective" for the NYS Defense Attorneys' Association annual training exercises.
APRIL 4, 2005 Jon is acting in Pen & Palette's production of "Alive, Alive, Oh!", a play based on the writing of 10 local cancer "alivers". The date is April 17, 1:30 PM at the Academy of the Holy Names Theater on New Scotland Avenue. Tickets are $10 at the door, $5 for students.
MARCH 31, 2005 Catch Jon singing at the 2005 Cohoes Music Hall Gala on Saturday, April 2nd. Tickets are $35 and are available by calling 237-7999. Google "Jon South" and you can link-up to his talent profile with Interactive Voices casting agency.
FEBRUARY 20, 2005

forthcoming CD at Danny's Skylight Room in New York City on February
10th.
JANUARY 1, 2005 NOTE FROM JON: Hi Everybody! Well, here it is: the debut of www.jonsouth.com. I must admit, when Greg Kuritz and Paul Hobson first approached me with the idea of creating my own personal website, my response was a little tepid. I believe I said something to the effect of "Uh... yeah... okay. Sure." Then as it all began to come together, I found myself staring at their "sneak peeks" in amazement. Be sure to check out the "Hear Jon Sing!" feature, with the fabulously talented Nate Buccieri at the piano. And keep watching this space for news about our upcoming CD "All About You". Happy 2005!
